The Maine Council of Churches expresses its deep gratitude to Bishop Thomas Brown, Episcopal Diocese of Maine, for organizing and hosting last night’s statewide online prayer vigil.  We are also thankful to UMC Bishop Peggy Johnson and UCC Conference Minister Rev. Dr. Marisa Laviola for serving as worship leaders.  Bishop Brown has made the order of service available to share, and it includes a beautiful litany based on a prayer written by his predecessor, Bishop Stephen Lane.  This and other resources are available on our website’s resource page  Faith-based resources for responding to gun violence may be helpful to clergy and congregations as you prepare to host vigils of your own, and as you prepare for Sunday worship services.
