An action alert for Maine’s faith communities | March 3, 2023
Help Welcome Our Newest Neighbors!
Starting next week, 52 asylum-seeking families will be moving out of hotels and into their new homes at West End II apartments in South Portland, thanks to an Avesta project funded by MaineHousing, Cumberland County, and other grants, and financed by the city. Rents will be covered by some of the $21 million provided by the State Legislature through emergency bill LD3 passed on January 4.
Twin and Queen-size beds have been donated to furnish the apartments, but there is an urgent need for donated bed linens. Organizers are calling on Maine’s faith communities to help meet this need.
Donations Needed!
Twin and Queen Sheet Sets
Twin and Queen Mattress Pads
(Preferably new—though gently used and freshly laundered sheets and pads are also ok) New (not used) Bed Pillows
Donations can be delivered to South Portland,
Monday through Friday, March 6th – 10th, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please call first before delivering items:
