Momentum is building for national campaign finance reform, and more eyes than ever are on Maine and our groundbreaking Clean Election system. Federal legislation has been introduced in Congress and it is critical that we protect our system to show the nation that there is another way to finance campaigns.
However, today's difficult economic situation is leading some in Augusta to consider cutting funding to the Clean Election system. Now is not the time to allow the system to be weakened. It's times like these that make keeping the big money out of politics more important than ever.
You can help by checking "Yes" on Line 1 of your Maine income tax form.
This is the three dollar check-off that helps to fund Maine's successful Clean Election system that allows qualified candidates who agree to limit their spending to run for state office without raising private money.
Checking "YES" won't raise your tax bill or reduce your refund, but it will help keep big money out of Maine politics.
Check "YES" for Clean Elections!
Checking "YES" doesn't cost a dime! But if you have a dime, please consider making a tax deductible gift to Maine Citizens for Clean Elections. Your gift will go towards ensuring that the public remains educated on the Maine Clean Election Act and issues of money in politics. DONATE TODAY!
