Get your share of the Maine harvest at the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and Fisheries (CSF) Fair in Portland, Sunday, February 28th at the Woodfords Church (202 Woodford St.). With CSA's and CSF's you commit to purchasing a share of the coming harvest before the season begins. The benefit? You get to support local farms and fishermen while getting your locally grown and harvested food direct from the producer at a fair price. Come meet the local farmers and fisherman that serve the greater Portland area, and discover how you can grow a relationship with them. Learn what it means to be a member of a farm community, get inspired about eating seasonally and being more connected to you food source. This event is being held in twelve locations over the state. Admission is FREE!
Along with meeting your local farmers, the Portland fair will have local seafood tasting and food sales to benefit area programs for the hungry. A 2pm showing of the film documentary FRESH will be featured in an adjoining hall.
The event is co-sponsored by the Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association (MOFGA) and the Maine Council of Churches.
