PROTECTING HOUSES OF WORSHIP FORUMS OFFERED ACROSS STATE

MCC has partnered with the Maine office of the U.S. Attorney, Maine Emergency Management Agency, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency who are offering a forum to assist local congregations in Maine to do security assessments, safety planning, prevention of and effective responses to hate incidents and hate crimes happening in and around their buildings and during worship services.

This forum will be offered in several locations throughout the state so participants do not need to travel long distances to attend.  Clergy and lay leaders will learn about resources and tools available to them at no cost and will come away better prepared to keep their house of worship safe, especially for members who may be targeted because of their religion, race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender or sexual orientation.

Stay tuned for more information about these forums being offered in late September/early October.
